Many Engineers and programmers use the terminal and CLI on a daily basis. It is used for everything from running scripts, to managing files, to even running servers. It is a very powerful tool that can be used to do many things. I have been using the terminal for years now and I have learned a lot about it. I have learned how to navigate the file system, how to manage files, how to run scripts, and how to enjoy the ease that comes with using it. Knowing that you are in control and can do anything is very freeing. This ultimately led to wondering hwo much effort and time it took in order to make the command line. It did not just come into being working perfectly out of the box. Someone had to put in the time and effort to make it work. This is where I found Hecto Terminal. It is a project to make a terminal and show how each part works from top to bottom.
I found this tutorial through a github repo called create your own x. It has so many tutorials and so many ways to practice hands on projects. I will definitely be back to that repo in order to further my portfolio and continue my learning. Besides that, I have been in my free time learning and following along with the tutorial and I have made so far in Rust the basics of the terminal. I am very excited to what the project will be and it even promises at some point that I can code and edit the terminal from inside itself toward the end of the tutorial.
While I am still working on this project it has taught me quite a few things. I have learned how to use the Rust Language and I feel like a more in depth way of learning a language is taking on a bigger project like this. I will absolutely finish and write more about this project as I continue it and will be excited to see how it turns out.
